About me
Melissa Pence, MSL, CFRE is an Iowa native. She received her bachelor's degree in public relations and business from Loras College in Dubuque before relocating to Cedar Rapids to pursue a professional career in the nonprofit sector. For nearly two decades, Melissa held positions in fund development and leadership for the Sisters of Mercy and Alzheimer's Association. She earned her master's degree in strategic leadership from Mount Mercy University and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2010.
In 2019, Melissa joined the team at AMPERAGE Marketing & Fundraising as a fundraising adviser. In her role at AMPERAGE, Melissa provides fundraising consultation for nonprofits in the areas of capital campaign management, prospect research, annual fund, and major and planned gifts. She also conducts fundraising training and coaching to nonprofit boards and staff.
Melissa has advised clients across various nonprofit sectors, including arts and culture, healthcare, human services, community development and libraries. She also served as the AMPERAGE co-counsel on the successful campaigns for Marion Public Library and ConnectCR, a partnership between the City of Cedar Rapids and volunteer organization, Friends of Cedar Lake.
